Founded in 1975 by Joseph & Gail Anderson, who started out with the Afro-American Folklouric Troupe in NYC, THF became a singing duo, and finally expanded into a family group of four. West African Drum Circles, Dance Workshops, African Arts and Crafts workshops, and a traveling art exhibit with over 150 different items from their personal collection originating from various countries in Africa, make this a unique and versatile multidisciplinary group.
The Healing Force is a family of performers who specialize in World Music, arts in education, storytelling, residencies, concerts, and workshops. The school assemblies, church programs, library programs, festivals, conventions, colleges and universities, and community events are suitable for audiences of all ages. The ongoing motto is: "Serving the Community Through the Arts". The celebration is lively, and emphasizes the connectedness of the human family through music. The most popular performance is "The Rhythm of the Drum," which features African Culture through drumming, singing, and storytelling. There is usually a surprise message at the end of the stories.
